This heavy rock quintet originated in Belton, Texas, and consists of band members Lacey Mosley, vocals; Sameer Bhattacharya, guitar; Jared Hartmann, guitar; Pat Seals, bass; James Culpepper, drums. They released their first, self-titled debut album in early 2005, and a full-length album in spring 2005, with their fanbase was becoming bigger and bigger. They increased their fanbase with local bands, as well as performing during national acts such as Riddlin Kids, Fishbone, Bowling for Soup, and Evanescence. After releasing their first self-titled debut album, they were still getting more fans, and toured with bands like Saliva, Breaking Benjamin, 3 Doors Down, and STAIND.

The lyrics to each one of their songs focuses on some type of struggle in life, but also has a positive message.

Lead singer Lacey Mosley grew up with many struggles. "My mom was a young single mother of six," she explained. "We didn't have money and things were hard for all of us. We moved whenever we couldn't make ends meet in one place, and that happened pretty often so there was a lot of struggling, suffering and character building.

"It's easy to get depressed when you're dealing with that kind of stress," she continued, "especially when it looks like things will never get better. There was nothing constant in my life, and nothing to believe in. I got into some really bad stuff that I thought would make me feel more loved, or maybe just numb, but it cost me everything that was important to me, and literally almost took my life."

Songwriting helped Mosley to keep a positive outlook on things, "I had to lose everything to look up and see that there is a truly constant hope of a happy ending and that's what we make music for," she said. "If my music helps one person, than it's worth having been through what I've experienced."

They started with the band name Passerby, but before they got the chance to trademark it, another band had. "A flyleaf is the blank page at the front of a book," explained Mosley. "It's the dedication page, the place you write a message to someone you're giving a book to. And, that's kind of what our songs are -- personal messages that provide a few moments of clarity before the story begins."

And their story is just beginning.

Sounds like: Crossfade, Smile Empty Soul, Breaking Benjamin, Seether, and Evanescence. I would suggest any of of those bands as well.

Favorite Songs: All Around Me, Cassie, I'm So Sick, Ocean Waves, Fully Alive, I'm Sorry

Alright, so since a lot of bands are entirely male, I thought it was about time the female bands get some sweet recognition. Because, well, you know, if they get featured on my site, psshh, that's just...friggin awesome. Right? Right. So, over the next week, starting tomorrow, I will be featuring a biography, my favorite songs by them, and songs suggested by other people. So, if you've heard of any of these groups/singers, shoot me a comment, and tell me what you think of them. I just might quote you somewhere :]

Hey Monday

The Icarus Account is one of my new favorite bands.  The band consists of twin brothers Ty and Trey, who are 20 years old.  They are from Florida and both are the guitar/vocals/piano for the band.  They write and sing all the songs and just released a full-length album, Mayday, which you can purchase from Amazon or iTunes. They're acoustic/pop/rock, and they have some of the best lyrics I have heard in a looooong time. They have a Myspace, iLike, Purevolume and Facebook page, links below.  Check 'em out!
